Starting from Scratch….
Badger Boy at the first place we (crash) landed when we moved to Tennessee.
“These are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stand by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the more harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we esteem too cheap, we esteem to lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as freedom should not be highly rated.” ~ Thomas Paine, The Crisis
This has been the overarching theme of my marriage to 2077. We have a good solid marriage because we have had to work – daily – to have a good marriage. So it is with our beginning homestead. We came to this area looking for a patch of dirt in 2005 and bought it…without really knowing what we were doing. 10 years later we were able to move here, but in the interim we did what improvements we could.
This blog may jump around a bit because to ‘catch up’ on the story I will have to go into the past, but that may get boring for me and you. So, I may intersperse a few current events of what is going on here. I primarily wanted to start a blog and maybe a subsequent YouTube channel because of the mistakes we made and the unrealistic views we had. We moved from Florida to Tennessee, but we might have moved to Mars…yes, it’s that different. The bolded part of the above quote, to me , is the heart of the matter. We had a hard conflict, or move and build, but we stuck to it and how the we have a glorious triumph. Not finished, never finished, but a big part of it is done. Our home!
