Four days after the hunting season for Black Bear ended, one sauntered down our driveway.

Never saw the ninja-of-the woods, but he/she left some nice tracks.

Came down the hill and disturbed some of the bank.

Then stepped in some mud to make sure we knew he/she was there.

When we came upon these tracks they were pretty fresh. Definitely less than 24 hours, but we actually think they were just five to six hours old.

We had been working above this area planting chestnut trees. Badger Boy was with us and indicating he smelled something. NOTHING gets him going like a deer scent or a sighting. His behavior was a little different, so we thought maybe an older deer scent. Then we saw the bear tracks later that day.

Duh! When the dog behaves unusually, pay attention!
